Well the're pulling up stakes down at the old fairground loading painted horses from the merry go round It's a ballet set to a calliope sound, and I'm watching as the fair's rolling out of town Well it's made of paint and money, blood and bones and sweat and the trapeze girl does a pirouette there's a light snow falling to the ground and I'm watching as the fair's rolling out of town Now I've got all this time that's come my way and I've got nothing else to do today Well I've got these wings but I'd trade 'em in on a soul and some flesh I could put it in or some arms to gently wrap you in and I'm asking you is it such a sin to desire these things that other men might take for granted as they look around and I'm watching as the fair's rolling out of town and I'm watching as the fair's rolling out of town

I'm going back to another time to the gas light glow riding street cars in the rain I'll see you their in your button shoes in your waiting room waiting for a chance to shine and all the world will know you and they'll call you by your name no longer to be just an ornament of flesh and bone I'll see you there in another time by the gas light glow riding street cars in the rain

Turning in? Good night Diane (I kiss your Spanish dream of ferris wheels, and market squares on Sunday afternoon) The bedroom light, goodnight Diane In all your fondest dreams of places far away from here where no one knows your name Turning in, Goodnight Diane I kiss your Spanish dream

Coat of Gray 04:13
Effervescent, Singular Performing on the threshold of a new moon rise Summer's passed before my eyes have time to adjust to the new sunlight. And every time I think about the blank impression it has left I come on down to meet you and we're there to find a way to open up our eyes before we both have gone away Sheltering a stormy shade of gray you know I wish that I could find a way But you and I could never find a place that's big enough to put our bags away and every time I think that you are sad I grab my overcoat and come on down to meet you and you're there without your coat of gray you carry every where and I think it will be fine today A simple thought A simple thought of you and me how it could be and how it could never be

To Be As One 05:03
There were those times when all our words made perfect sense They are no more We talk in rhymes that are so foreign to me now foreign to me now We lose our place where we would spend our better days inside our minds remembering is all we really have to do to be as one

Empty mansions in the hills worn out wood and unpaid bills stack my dreams up by the door you've got tomorrow but I need more Spiral rings of mystery sunlight rains down through the trees I'm driving past and I'm going slow where this leads I do not know Hey, this is not our day this is not today this is not the way things used to be This is not our time this is not our place this is not the road we used to take We can only hope we can only dream we can only dwell in empty mansions of our soul Looking out your kitchen door morning sun falls cross your floor out on the road lights are turning red so much you feel is left unsaid
12.
Everyday I watch the sun go down and count the lights that blink and shine Cast it on the winds of time and blow it all away You have your crown of thorns and I have left today far behind And every night I hear the clock that chimes and count the hours till you'll be here Sail them on the seas of time and throw it all away you have your cross to bear and I have left today far behind Cast them on the winds of time and blow them all away they have their cross to bear and we have left today far behind

I hear someone call out my name in a voice that was so familiar to me And we stood so still like carousel horses waiting to be set free And trust was the one thing that you and I always understood without words and we stood so still like carousel horses whose new coat of paint runs in the rain And all that I have is yours for the taking And all that I have is yours for the making And all that I am is sure I heard someone call out my name in a voice that was so familiar to me And we run in circles like carousel horses we've come so far but we've gone nowhere

The afternoon sun sets my living room on fire well, that's it nothing left for you to lose nothing to remind you And right away you start to break down And right away you'll feel it all round Bought a road machine It kicked out 20 thousand miles of highway and landscape and did you trade it in for a piece of a dot on somebody else's roadmap And right away you start to break down And right away you'll feel it all round Feel so humbled by you that I just can't stand alone on my two feet would you put your faith in any two words that rythmed
15.
Now we're here and now we're gone wasn't with you very long you have changed and left me wondering if there was ever really anything I could have said Now we're happy and now we're sad thinking of the times we've had I have changed and left you wondering if there was ever really anything you could have said You have changed and left me wondering if there was ever really anything I should have said

about

Our ode to the old 609 house. A lot of great people, and a lot of great music came through that house. Although not our first attempt at home recording, it's the first one we decided to release.
